The Art Studio was founded by June Shatken in September 2005.

June Shatken has been painting "seriously for fun" for more than 20 years. She has studied with many artist/teachers, since she believes that each has a unique perspective to share. Over the years she has been encouraged by their guidance, support and inspiration.

June's paintings vary in style from the exuberant to subtle and meditative, in response to light, color and mood.  She hopes that her love of nature will be conveyed through her paintings, and that viewers will also be inspired to derive joy and peace from nature. 

Inspired by Julia Cameron's book The Artist's Way, June facilitated a group for artists in spring 2005, and then opened her own studio in Brookside in September 2005.

DIRECTIONS FROM MORRISTOWN

Take Route 24 West for approximately 5 miles to Cherry Lane. (Alcott Manor on the left just before Cherry Lane). Turn right on Cherry Lane and continue to the stop sign. The Brookside Post Office is across the street and the art studio is just to the right behind the green and white awning.
